Industrial Placements

Most of our degree programmes have a thick sandwich option, with an industrial placement year at the end of Level 2 that is an integral part of the degree scheme. The advantages of undertaking this placement year are extensive. For example, not only will you gain valuable industrial experience (which is of real benefit to your CV, once you come to look for a graduate position), you are also paid a salary for that year. Currently, the average annual salary is over £15,000.

Preparation for the industrial placement starts at the beginning of Level 2. You will be guided in the preparation of your CV and assisted in applying for placements. Although we encourage students to look for placements themselves, we will provide you with company contact details if necessary. Furthermore, we do try to accommodate students’ preferences in terms of geographical location and industrial sector.

It is, therefore, possible to transfer to a sandwich degree at any point up to and including the start of Level 2.
