Research

The Sport & Exercise Science Research Centre (SESRC) was established in 2001. The aim of SESRC is to undertake research in Sport and Exercise Science of international excellence for the benefit of society as a whole. The main areas of research in SESRC are exercise-related enhancement of health, and sport performance. Expertise in the SESRC is largely within the three disciplines of Physiology, Psychology and Biomechanics, with an increasing emphasis on interdisciplinary research.

Collaborative research links are well-established with a number of other universities and organisations including University of Wales Institute Cardiff, University of Glamorgan, Swansea NHS Trust, and Carmarthenshire NHS Trust. Sources of externally-funded research in SESRC include the Welsh Office for Research and Development, Diabetes UK, the Sugar Bureau, and Ospreys RFC.
