Facilities

The School has extensive laboratory and computing facilities for both teaching and research purposes. Of particular note in the Mechanical labs are two large rotating rigs: one is used to study the dynamics of high speed machinery whilst the other is devoted to the analysis of heat transfer in turbine blade. The printing and coating group operates a full scale printing press and also have extensive facilities for the measurement of surfaces. This technology has a wide range of application ranging from the quality of printing to the study of seals in gas pipelines.
