Tim - Facilities

Our taught undergraduate degrees schemes make extensive use of our dedicated undergraduate teaching laboratory and our undergraduate project laboratory. Both are well equipped with digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators and soldering stations as well as PCs that are linked to the School’s network of PCs. Students are required to design and build their own circuits, so a dedicated pcb fabrication facility with associated software is provided and technician support is on hand.

A significant component of both the undergraduate and taught MSc degrees is the individual research project. These are carried out within our research centres and therefore students have access to sophisticated equipment (e.g. a scanning tunneling microscope for atomic scale probing or a hp4124 parameter analyzer for power devices) and resources not normally found in undergraduate laboratories.
