Zienkiewicz PhD Scholarships

The highly prestigious Zienkiewicz Scholarships are reserved for top calibre students (outstanding academic performance with a minimum of a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent, IELTS at 7.0 or equivalent and ideally a Masters Degree and/or research experience) and awards will be allocated on a competitive basis.

Materials Engineering Undergraduate Bursary

Swansea University has a strong history of success in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. Graduates from our programmes now hold top positions in industry, academia and research, reflecting on the College’s very strong links with industry and our world-leading research and first class facilities.

To celebrate the success of the discipline at Swansea, and to highlight the field as a university subject choice among well-known Engineering degrees, Swansea University Materials Engineering are delighted to offer entrance scholarships of up to £1500 to new Materials Engineering undergraduate students joining us for the 2017/18 academic year. Scholarships are valued at either £1,500 or £1,000.

A level grades AAB and above - £1,500 – Materials Engineering Excellence Scholarships

All other entrants - £1,000 – Materials Engineering Entrance Scholarships

**UCAS Tariff Equivalents and EU Equivalent Qualifications will be considered/accepted for all Bursaries**

How to Apply

Application is not necessary, bursaries are awarded automatically by the Portfolio Director and Admissions Tutor following enrolment.

Students will receive formal notification of their scholarship award before the start of term.


Students must be admitted to Year 1 of the undergraduate Materials Engineering course at Swansea University from September 2017.

Scholarships are paid directly into the student’s bank account during the first semester of the 2017/18 university term

Scholarships are available for the 2017/18 year and are not transferable for deferred entry

Scholarships are available to all UK and EU nationals. Non-EU nationals are NOT eligible.

Scholarships are available to those joining Year 1 only (Foundation entry is NOT eligible).

Materials Entrance Scholarships may be awarded in addition to other university or external scholarships and bursaries
