Engineering Mathematics Resources

Engineering Mathematics Resources

Engineering Mathematics is an integral part of your degree but we understand that it is a topic that many of you find difficult and so we want you to provide you with the help and support you need to succeed.

Welcome

The College of Engineering Mathematics Resources are freely available to all students in the College of Engineering at Swansea University. We have a variety of resources available if you

  • need to refresh your mathematical skills
  • need additional help with the mathematical aspect of your course

We operate a weekly mathematics cafe and also have lots of resources on-line that you can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Mathematics and CAE Cafes

The (joint) Engineering Mathematics and CAE Cafe offers an informal environment where you can drop-in to get help with Engineering Mathematics, CAD and FE analysis. From the week beginning 10th October 2017 the opening times are:

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday afternoons 1pm-3pm in Engineering Central A027 - Opposite Coffeeopolis

The Cafe is open to all students in the College of Engineering and operates on a drop-in basis. The Cafe is manned by specially HESTEM trained postgraduate students with support from academic staff.

Available Resources

We have a variety of resource available online, which students can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Level 1 and Level 0 Engineering students use the MyMathLab e-learning and e-assessment environment for their level 1 engineering analysis modules.  We have purchased access to this system for all our level 1 and level 0 students for this academic year.

Through the University's Blackboard Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) we have lots of resources that are available to all students. This includes

  • HELM - Helping Engineers Learn Mathematics Workbooks
  • SIGMA - Summary sheets covering key areas in Mathematics
  • Lecture Notes - For the engineering analysis modules
  • Links to (online) textbooks available in the LIS
  • Links to external sites
