  • Language Skills for Academic Studies
  • Subject-Related Academic Reading and Writing
  • Subject-Related Listening and Note-taking Skills for Academic Lectures
  • Academic Speaking Skills for Presentations, Seminars, and Tutorials
  • Use of Academic Sources and Referencing Skills
  • Critical Thinking
  • Individual Subject-Related Project

We aim to make your pre-sessional study with us as relevant as possible to your future degree programme by providing subject-related course content. Each week includes 23 hours of organised tuition. In addition, you will be required to carry out a programme of self-study and complete a number of individual assignments. Download a Sample 12-Week Academic Pre-sessional Timetable to find out more about a typical week.  The morning sessions of this course will be run as part of the General Pre-sessional programme; the academic lectures and project parts of the course are subject related. The maximum class size is 18.

During the course, you will build a portfolio of coursework which will be used as part of your final assessment. You will have a personal tutor who will meet you regularly to help you to develop individual targets to help you achieve your academic goals and to write your individual project.

The 12 Week General Pre-sessional gives you everything you need to maximise your confidence and improve your skills before you begin your degree at the start of the academic year.
