The Pre-Sessional course runs from July to September and is designed for international students who:

• Have attended the English for University Studies course but have not achieved the required IELTS level for University entry

• Have an English Language level of at least IELTS 5.5 or equivalent and need to improve this level to a 6.0 or 6.5 for University entry

• Can meet the English language entry requirements for a UK University but wish to improve their Study Skills and have a period of orientation before starting their University course

There are 2 entry points to the course so students can attend for either 10 or 5 weeks. Students who have not yet reached the required IELTS or equivalent level should attend for the full 10 weeks. It is recommended that all international students who have not been educated through the medium of English attend the 5 week course.

The 23 hour per week course includes General English, Study Skills, Project Work and an Academic Lecture Programme. There are also excursions to local places of interest. Students receive a high level of individual attention.

Please note that the Pre-Sessional Course is not suitable for students applying for the International Foundation Year.
