The Hierogift Shop

Are you looking for an unusual gift?  As well as pens, pencils and key-rings, we sell a range of statues, recycled glass, papyrus from Egypt, and exclusive hand-made jewellery. The shop is located in the foyer of the museum.

We have a large range of small, inexpensive items, excellent value for children, and visitors on a budget.  These are ideal for our school parties. We can make up 'fun bags' for you on request. Our cheapest product is just 20p (a small piece of decorated papyrus), and with many items £1.00 and under, there are many gifts for you to choose.

Some of our products are made in Egypt, for example,  papyrus, recycled glass, perfume bottles, scarves and statues.

We stock books for adults and children. These include: the Shire series of Egyptology books; the Dorling Kindersley Eyewitness books.  We also stock Egyptology magazines for both academics and the general public including Ancient Egypt Magazine and Egyptian Archaeology.  There are also some Egypt Centre publications such as 'Offerings from the British Museum' and 'Reflections of Women in Ancient Egypt'.

We are currently selling Sex and Gender in Ancient Egypt: "Don your wig for a joyful hour". This publication includes papers based on a conference held at the Egypt Centre in 2005 and is edited by Egypt Centre curator Carolyn Graves-Brown. This book is available to buy in the gift shop for £25 (RRP £50) as well as via telephone orders (£25 + postage and packaging). Please see publishers website for details on papers: http://www.classicalpressofwales.co.uk/sex%20and%20gender.htm

The Egypt Centre Shop offers a 'goody-bag' facility which saves time during school visits.  These need to be booked in advance and selection is subject to availability and price.

Here is an example of a £2 goody-bag. Items include a Pharaoh pen and pencil, a scarab beetle and papyrus bookmark

The Egypt Centre Shop does not operate an online shopping facility, and our stock often varies, but if you have any queries about us and our products, please get in contact.  Email me at j.m.holly@swansea.ac.uk , or you can ring the museum on 01792 295960 (ask for Jayne).  We are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
