Meet our Students
Enjoyable and stimulating
The Part-time Degree programme is aimed at those who, because of work, family or other commitments choose to study on a part-time basis. The programme can enable you to study and achieve your goals while still continuing with your everyday life.
Over the last 25 years, the Part-time Degree has seen 459 people graduate from the programme gaining a qualification that can aid their careers and/or provide a sense of achievement and self-fulfilment.
You can study part-time for a Degree in Humanities, English or History. A number of courses are available in a variety of subjects which allows you to compile a programme of study best suited to your needs or interests. You need to study two courses per year and in this way you will complete an Honours degree in six years.
The programme is available at the following venues:
Students can choose to mix and match study venues to suit their own needs.
DACE is committed to developing different methods of course delivery. Students studying at certain venues in Pembrokeshire will be taught by a video-link from Swansea University. This enables students from an even wider geographical area and with different study requirements to access more subject choices on the programme Students studying via video-conferencing also receive face-to-face tuition.
We recognise that students returning to study after a length of time may have particular requirements in terms of study support. In order to make this a smooth transition, we offer our part-time degree students an extensive study support service. During early September, we offer Academic Support Sessions before the programme commences. Throughout the academic year, Study Support Tutors are available, on request, to help students with any study skills issues. In addition to this, time-tabled study skills sessions are available on campus and at community venues. Students also have access to the STAR HANDBOOK which includes study skills advice and other useful information.
Help with module choices and careers advice is also available throughout the programme. Employability Sessions are timetabled but can also be arranged upon request. One-to-one careers and educational guidance appointments can also be made with one of our experienced Guidance Workers throughout the academic year.
At DACE, we have an excellent group of tutors who in addition to being experts in their own disciplines are also committed to the education of adults and to wider participation in general. They have a fundamental role in enthusing students and it is largely due to their expertise that students are able to keep on-track, motivated and also get the most from their studies.
