Estates' frequently asked questions

Where are the Estates' offices based?

The main office is based 4th floor Union House (a lift is located to the west side of the building). The Mailroom is located in the ground floor rear of the Talbot Building. Security is located in the main entrance of Fulton House.

How do I reserve a parking space for a visitor?

Car parking spaces can be reserved for VIP and Conference/Seminar guests by completing the request form. Visitors attending meetings on campus should use the pay and display car park.

My car has been clamped what should I do?

During office hours (08:30-16:30 Mon-Fri) contact Estates Reception extn. 5240, otherwise contact Security extn. 4271.

Am I eligible for an ID Card?

Multi-function identification cards are currently issued to the following staff

  • Permanent and fixed-term staff
  • Visiting staff and students
  • Associate staff such as Digital technium, Students' Union and Wales National Pool Swansea
  • Partner Contractors

How I get a new or replacement ID Card?

You will need a letter of appointment or departmental authorisation before an ID Card can be issued. Lost or damaged cards (through mis-use) will incur a fee of £5 for replacement, unless certain circumstances prevail. To arrange an appointment for an ID Card contact the Estates Helpdesk extn. 5240.

How do I book a Portering Service?

Contact Estates Helpdesk extn. 5240 or complete the Submit WorkRequest online form. Do not contact porters directly as they cannot take bookings. There is no charge for portering services to academic and administrative departments during normal operational hours, charges may apply at all other times. If possible give at least 24 hours notice as during busy periods requests will be prioritised.

How do I report a fault?

To report a maintenance fault contact Estates Helpdesk extn. 5240, or complete the Submit WorkRequest online form.

How do I report an emergency fault outside of office hours?

A 24hr emergency callout service is in place, if required contact Security extn. 4271.

How do I track progress of my WorkRequest?

Contact Estates HelpDesk extn. 5240 during office hours 08:30-16:30 Mon-Fri

To book a room for ad-hoc use, email roombooking, complete the  or contact Liz Griffiths extn.5404, Donna Hall extn. 2593 or Mark Harvey extn. 2213. Please do not email room booking requests or queries to the individual staff as they are dealt with centrally.
