University policy requires that all funding applications receive formal approval by the applicant’s School and the Institution prior to submission to the sponsor. The timetable below is the minimum required for the submission process; additional time must be allowed if there are any internal School procedures to consider.

For fEC costed applications calculate Swansea University fEC costs and forward to your Pre-Award contact for verification. Calculate new Swansea University staff costs using SiriusWeb (for Research Council applications use 'Include increments but not inflation'). |

If using an electronic submission system, submit the application for School approval. Paper based applications must be submitted to a School Approver with the Institutional Endorsement Form for completion and authorisation. |

The School Approver submits the electronic application to DRI or the Applicant submits the paper application to DRI with the completed Institutional Endorsement Form. |

For electronic applications, DRI will check the application and submit it to the funder providing all checks are completed satisfactorily. For paper applications DRI will perform the same checks but return the proposal to the applicant to forward to the funding organisation. |
Applications routed to the Submitter Pool in DRI less than 24 hours prior to a deadline may be declined institutional approval .
Risk Assessment - Non-Research Council applications with budgets over £500,000 will require a formal , please allow a minimum of three weeks prior to submission to complete this process. The University reserves the right to Risk Assess any funding application, including Research Council bids.
Institutional Endorsement Form - The Institutional Endorsement Form
(IEF) must be used to obtain School and Institutional approval for paper-based applications and electronic submission systems that do not contain a School approval step prior to Institutional submission.
