HH23A G.jpg (105800 bytes)

HH23A. This view of the village was taken from the east, probably in the early morning. The paths leading around and out of the village can be clearly seen. The glass plate of the negative is cracked from top right to the centre of the lower edge. The image is captioned "Anafi 22.6.41" in Greek just below the centre, then, somewhat lower and rather blurred, in Italian: "Anafi: il vilagio, 4 Magio 1941". Underneath the caption in Italian is another one in Greek, also blurred, reading: Anafi: to khorio. Maios(?) 1941(?)". Note the discrepancies between the two sets of dates. The June date is after the occupation of the island by an Italian garrison. (See also Z10).
