About The Great Hall
At the heart of the Bay Campus is the iconic Great Hall. The £32m facility was designed by world-renowned architect Dr Demitri Porphyrios and provides a venue in which the local and University communities can come together to socialise, enjoy cultural performances and take part in conferences and events of all kinds.
The key space within Swansea University’s impressive Great Hall complex is the magnificent 700-seat Sir Stanley Clarke Auditorium; complete with flexible staging and international-standard acoustics, as well as state-of-the-art audio visual technology. All the seating in the auditorium retracts, allowing the room to be converted into a large, flat-floor space which is perfect for gala dinners for up to 300 people and large exhibitions.
Running alongside the Sir Stanley Clarke Auditorium are two light-filled galleries leading to a gorgeous café bar and restaurant which offers a delightful menu from tapas, platters and light bites through to three course Sunday lunches on Sundays. The Great Hall Café Bar and Restaurant opens out onto a beautiful balcony area which gives breathtaking views over the whole of Swansea Bay.
On the floor below the auditorium, the Great Hall houses three brand new, spacious tiered lecture theatres and a series of smaller flat floor meeting rooms; all are equipped with state-of-the-art AV equipment.
