Undergraduate applications are made through UCAS.

Invitations

Once you've applied, we will consider your application as soon as we receive it. Bear in mind that it can take some time for your form to reach us from UCAS.

Once we have received your application, we will decide on the basis of the academic information it contains if you are likely to be able to reach (or get close to) our offer grades: the vast majority of applicants fall into this group.

We will then most probably invite you to a Visit Day, unless it's clear you will be unable to attend (for example, if you don't live on the UK mainland).

Offers

Please see entry requirements to find out what our offer is likely to be. If you want to come to Swansea, but you predict that your grades will be lower than our offer (by one or two grades), you should still consider making us a firm choice. If you achieve the grades we request, your offer will be confirmed and made unconditional. Even If you miss out by one or two grades we will still accept you onto the course if we have any remaining places in the summer). Each year we have a target number of students to take, and we prefer to take students that have made us a firm choice, but missed out by one or two grades, than to take more students in clearing.

These examples are based on an offer of BBB for simplification. You may receive a different offer, and please see entrance requirements for more details about our likely offer.

Example 1: We make an offer of BBB. You think you are going to achieve BBC, and you really want to come to Swansea. Rather than choosing a different university (that has made a BBC offer) as your firm choice, you should consider choosing us, since if you make the BBB, you are confirmed and made unconditional, or if you achieve the BBC you will still stand a very high chance of being confirmed and made unconditional.

Example 2: We make an offer of BBB. You think you are going to achieve AAC, and you really want to come to Swansea. We would regard you as making our offer requirements. We prefer not to offer AAC or ABC (based on teacher predictions), but will make the BBB offer. We would still regard this as making our offer requirement.

Example 3: We make an offer of BBB. You think you are going to achieve BBD, and you really want to come to Swansea. It depends on the subjects (e.g. we favour good performance in Computing, Maths, Physics and other scientific subjects), and our student numbers target, but you would still stand a very good chance of being confirmed with that result. In the unlikely event that we fill all our places with students that make our offer you would have to enter clearing.

Adjustment

Circumstances: You wanted to come to Swansea, but did not choose us because you did not think you could make our entrance requirements, but later do achieve them. Please consider applying to us through adjustment.

Clearing

Circumstances: You have obtained good results, but not good enough to gain entry to your preferred choices, or you change your mind (e.g. to live and attend your local university), and would very much like to come to Swansea. Please consider applying to us through clearing. We will post a web link close to the clearing period (tba for 2013), that you can follow to check if we would offer you a place. This often gets a faster response than going through the main switchboard.

When are offers made?

Offers are made shortly after interview. If several weeks have passed since interview, please get in touch with us to check. If you do not attend interview, all remaining candidate offers will be made after the last interview date. You can request an offer sooner.
