Simulation of free surface flows
Our analysis of free-surface flows covers extrusion and moving-boundary problems, such as arise in die swell, stick-slip and drag flows.  Here we have studied benchmark problems to incorporate free-surface algorithms into a transient fractional-staged finite element formulation. Our results have appeared in four key papers [j21,j23,j25,j29], taking the analysis through increasingly complex flows for both viscous and viscoelastic fluids. This work finds immediate extension to industrial processes such as in coatings of wire or glass rovings.
