- Only 12 other UK Computer Science departments achieved a higher percentage of world-leading research.
Research areas
Swansea computer scientists enjoy working with a huge range of collaborators from all over the world and play their part in leading the development of the subject. Our main research areas are currently:
Postgraduate research
The Department offers an active and stimulating research atmosphere for postgraduate research students. Its internationally-leading research groups offer expert supervision for Masters and PhD studies.
The Department awards bursaries and scholarships each summer, in addition to those funded by the University.
Research projects
Our academic staff are involved in research projects funded by EPSRC, NISCHR and the Welsh Assembly Government.
Our postgraduate research students are supported by grants from EPSRC and Swansea University.
Research publications
The recent publications of all our academic staff are (to be) listed on Cronfa, the University's online research repository.
Individual staff members maintain lists of their publications on their personal home pages, which are accessible via our staff list.
The department's technical report series was discontinued in 2011.
Research seminars
Research group seminars
Our research groups run their own series of research seminars. These seminars often assume familiarity with a particular research topic, but all are welcome to attend.
The Department also has a series of Distinguished Lectures, whose topics are intended to be accessible – and of interest – to all our academic staff and students.
