Computer Science at Swansea

The Department of Computer Science at Swansea is home to world class researchers, fine laboratory facilities and excellent teaching programmes.

Find out what's happening today in the department.

Currently, we have research programmes in data-centric computing, semantics of specification and programming languages, formal methods for designing software and hardware, visual and interactive computing, future interaction technologies, and the social impact of science and technology.

We are also leading a Swansea initiative in the history of computing.

Our ethos in Computer Science at Swansea is to emphasise curiosity, originality and depth in personal study and research; to tackle problems with industrial impact in the long term; and to enjoy a stimulating intellectual culture, with an international perspective.

The Department is small and staff and students benefit enormously from its intimate and friendly atmosphere. We welcome visitors.

The Head of Department is Prof Matt Jones. The Department is part of the College of Science, which was formed in February 2011. The other departments in the College of Science are Biosciences, Geography, Mathematics and Physics.
