History

The Department of Computer Science at Swansea University is one of the UK's leading centres for Computer Science education. The first Computer Laboratory at Swansea was founded in 1962. Computer Science was established as a field of undergraduate study in 1967, and today we offer a range of single and joint-honours degree programmes.

In 2000 the Department moved into newly-renovated accommodation at the heart of the University campus. Our new building has been designed specifically to meet our needs, and includes modern network infrastructure, spacious and well-equipped laboratories, and modern teaching facilities.

The Department has strong international and industrial links, with connections to other universities and companies across Europe and North America. We have a range of scholarships, as well as the innovative ITWales vacation employment scheme.
