International Applications
International applications from outside the European Union can be made directly to the University for both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. You can do this either via an agent for the University in your country, or by contacting the University Admissions Office. Please note that applicants from Nigeria and Pakistan must apply via an agent. You can also apply for undergraduate courses from outside the European Union via UCAS (telephone +44 870 1122211).
Undergraduate Degrees
We cannot list here all the possible entry qualifications for all of our degree schemes. We suggest you contact us if you have a specific question. In most cases, international qualifications are comparable to those from the UK, and provided you have reached the required standard it will be possible to enter directly into the first year. In some cases however, it will be necessary to do a Foundation year first.
Some students can be admitted directly into the second year. For this to be possible you must have an appropriate qualification and you must have already studied enough of the important subjects in our first year to an advanced level:
- Java programming;
- Data Structures;
- Algorithms; and
- Discrete Mathematics.
Postgraduate Degrees
The normal requirement for entry to an MSc or MRes degree is the UK equivalent of a second-class degree. For entry to MPhil and PhD degrees, you will need the equivalent of a UK upper second-class degree. For specific details of the eligible degree subjects for entry onto our postgraduate degrees, please see the specific degree scheme pages.
Working in the UK
Masters and PhD graduates will automatically have the right to work in the UK for 12 months after graduation via the International Graduates Scheme.
Bachelors graduates in Computing can also apply to work in the UK for via the International Graduates Scheme. You will need at least a 2.2 (upper second) class degree to be eligible to apply.
The current shortage of Computing graduates in the UK should mean that it is easier for well-qualified International graduates to remain in the UK beyond the initial 12 month period. However, we are unable to guarantee this.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
