Undergraduate Entry Qualifications and How to Apply
Normally, undergraduate applications must be made through UCAS (telephone 0870 1122211, or +44 870 1122211 from outside the UK). The UCAS website explains how to apply.
Our normal conditional offer will be 280 UCAS Tariff Points (300 for the MEng in Computing). This excludes General Studies, Key Skills and Royal College of Music exams.
Once you've applied, we will consider your application as soon as we receive it. However, bear in mind that from September to January, UCAS and Universities have many applications to process, and it can take some time for your form to reach us.
Once we have received your application, we will decide on the basis of the academic information it contains if you are likely to be able to reach (or get close to) our offer grades: the vast majority of applicants fall into this group.
We will then most probably invite you down to a Visit Day, unless it's clear you will be unable to attend (for example, if you don't live on the UK mainland). These run from November to February or March, depending on demand. We generally hold Visit Days on Wednesdays each week.
Visit Days typically run from 12.00 to 16.00, and you will get to see the University and the Department, talk to students and staff, learn about the teaching and research we do, find out about the accommodation, and ask any questions you may have. Note that we no longer formally interview applicants except in special circumstances, and attendence is not required (though we strongly recommend it). Unless you are unable to attend, you will normally receive an offer after you've been to a Visit Day.
