Foundation Year

Although many education systems in the world are generally equivalent to that in the UK, some do not correspond closely enough to permit entry into the first year of a degree scheme. For applicants from those countries the department runs a foundation year programme.

The syllabus of the foundation year can vary slightly according to the needs of each individual student, but commonly it will consist of four modules of English, four modules of Mathematics, three modules of Computing, and one other module from another subject in Science or Engineering.

Please note that except in a very few exceptional circumstances, the foundation year is not suitable for UK applicants.
