The Centre's activities include:
- Theoretically and methodologically innovative research including, most recently research into the experiences of separated asylum seeking children in Wales and the UK, the governance of economic migration and the rights of economic migrants, the implications of inward and outward migration for the Welsh economy and the factors that influence public attitudes towards migrants and immigration policies. - Policy analysis and evaluation at the local, national and international level. The Centre’s Research Associates have served as specialist advisers to parliamentary committees on immigration controls, asylum policy and development issues and are regularly invited to undertake consultancy and to provide policy advice to a wide range of national and international organisations and bodies, including IOM, UNESCO, UNESCAP, UNIFEM, UNRISD (UN Research Institute for Social Development), UNHCR and IDRC (International Development Research Centre)
- Dissemination of research findings through academic publications, user-orientated publications and briefing papers. Information about our publications can be found here. We also arrange events such as conferences, seminars and workshops which are open to policy makers and practitioners where research findings and implications are discussed. - User-engagement to ensure that the Centre’s activities reflect local and regional information needs and priorities and that the work of government and of voluntary and statutory agencies is underpinned by a robust evidence base
