For some jobs, with some employers, and for some students, placements are not always possible or appropriate - for example you may have an idea about the job you would like and want to try it first.
Work Tasters fill the gap; they can be from a minimum of one day up to a regular commitment throughout the academic year, and give you the opportunity to 'sample' working life. What you do will depend on the job and employer.
In some patient or client-centred professions it is difficult for the untrained and inexperienced to participate actively in a consultation, but you should be able to shadow and become involved in associated activities. In other jobs with other employers you can integrate into the work, and get a real impression of the career.
Tasters can lead to additional valuable and targeted work experience, paid opportunities, placements, and the start of a successful relationship with an employer.
Successful placements to date include publishing, dentistry, journalism, physiotherapy, housing, purchasing and voluntary work.
Register with Work Tasters online at http://www.gowales.co.uk/ and we will contact you to discuss your interests further.
