Useful Information

Enrolment

Although you may wish to enrol on-line, you must also ensure that you pick up your University Student ID card when you arrive.  The University can then contact SLC to confirm your attendance and your funding should go into your account within 3 -5 working days.

If you are unsure what is happening with your student loan, call Student Finance Wales on 0300 200 4050 or Student Finance England on 0300 100 0607.

The Money@CampusLife Team are also able to assist you once you arrive at University, but be sure to bring along your customer reference number and any relevant correspondence.

NHS Students

If you're an NHS student, it's important to be aware that your first NHS bursary payment will not be made until the end of October, 1-2 months after you receive the first instalment of your student loan, so you need to budget to allow for this.

Clearing

Don't worry if you're going through the process of clearing.  Once you secure a place on a course just log on to your Student Finance account or contact your Funding Provider to update your University details.

If your 'Student Finance' details have not been updated to your new University by enrolment, bring along your original paperwork (those assessed against your old University).

This will allow the University to notify the SLC of your registration and confirm your new course/University details.

If the Tuition Fee amount is different, be sure to let your funding provider know.

If you are still unsure what is happening with your student loan:

  • Contact Student Finance Wales on 0300 200 4050 or Student Finance England on 0300 100 0607
  • Visit the Money@CampusLife team (bring your Customer Reference Number)

Bank Accounts

Be sure to shop around to secure the best Student Bank account.  Consider what will best suit your needs, compare the amount of overdraft you will be allowed, and how much any charges would be.  Don't just go for the best freebie, as it could still cost you more in the long run.

Remember to update your funding provider with your new account details.
