I study on campus – how will the Student Activity Centre project affect my studies?

There will be some impact from noise and construction traffic, particularly during the early stages of the project, but measures will be put in place such as restricting noisy works to particular times in order to reduce the impact on day to day life on campus. Will I have to move out of my residence and will this be a permanent or temporary move?

You will not have to move out of your Halls of Residence during the Student Activity Centre project works.

Where will the Student Union move to and will this be a permanent or temporary relocation?

The Student Union will be relocating to the Bay Campus and to the Faraday Tower on Singleton Campus

Will I have to move out of my office and if I do will this be a permanent or temporary move?

Staff based within the Digital Technium will be relocated as part of the project.  Your line manager will provide you with details and timescales. 

Events

I am organising an event on campus – will the event be affected?

Plans are in place to minimise the impact of the project on day-to-day campus life. If any issues arise that will affect your event, your Event Coordinator will contact you. If you have any concerns, please contact your event coordinator directly. 

I am involved in/attending a performance, conference or event on campus – will the event be affected?

The Student Activity Centre construction project should not affect the event you are attending. Construction work will be kept to a minimum during performances, conferences and events on campus. If you have any concerns, contact the event organiser for information and advice.  

What will happen to the Taliesin during the construction work?

The Taliesin Theatre will continue to run a programme of events throughout the construction project. Please speak directly with Taliesin staff to find out more about their programme. 

I am a regular visitor to the Egypt Centre, how will this development affect the centre?

The Egypt Centre will continue to run as normal. There may be some impact on access routes to the venue at certain points during the project but disruption will be kept to a minimum. The venue will be able to keep you informed of any works going on that might impact on day to day operations at the centre.
