A step by step guide
Step 1 - Discuss the project
If you are thinking of starting a KTP then please contact Ali Parker in the Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) to discuss your idea. Ideally a quick meeting will be held with the company, Ali and the academic so that everyone is clear about their responsibilities and the project plan.
Step 2 - Submit Expression of Interest form
This short EOI form is completed with input from the academic, company and DRI. DRI will then submit the application form.
Step 3 - Meet with KTP advisor
At this stage it is wise for the KTP advisor to meet with the company, academic and a representative from DRI to discuss the form and the next steps.
Step 4 - Submit full application
The EOI form is reviewed and you will then be asked to complete the full application This will be submitted by DRI to the TSB, . There are key deadline dates for submission, they are usually every 6-8 weeks. The company also hass to sign a joint commitment statement at this stage.
Step 5 - Review of application
The Partnership Approvals Group (PAG) at the KTP office will review the application and there is sometimes request for additional information. If successful a Grant offer letter is issued to both the University and the Company.
