We did it!

In March 2017 Swansea University entered the Santander Cycles University Challenge to win £100,000 of capital funding to launch a bikeshare scheme in Swansea. After beating off stiff competition from dozens of other universities, Swansea reached the final phase to battle against four other finalists to see who could raise the most funds through crowdfunding.

Thanks to the incredible support and generosity of the Swansea community, the crowdfunding campaign raised over £100,000, enough to win the competition by a wide margin. Nextbike will now be supply and installing the bikes, using the capital funding supplied by Santander, while the funds raised through crowdfunding will be used to support the operation of the scheme and to explore expansion beyond the initial docking stations.
