Welsh degrees at Swansea

The degree in Cymraeg (Welsh) at Swansea is the perfect combination of vocational and intellectual modules. You’ll be taught by some of the best authors working in the Welsh language – among the staff are three Prifeirdd (Chief Bards), a former Archdruid and winners of the Wales Book of the Year competition – and you’ll have the opportunity for a work placement with some key employers who work through the medium of Welsh.

The degree is a vocational and intellectual one which expands the mind and opens doors in several areas – education, local government, the Assembly, translation, broadcasting and the media, business, marketing and public relations, creative writing. Our focus is on developing the individual to his or her full potential and we concentrate on developing communication skills (both oral and written) and critical creativity.

We offer a pathway of language modules tailored for first language and second language students, from Introduction to Language Skills to Mastering Language Skills, and Swansea is leading on a cross-institutional project funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol to create a new language curriculum for Universities in Wales.
