Postgraduate Degrees

Welsh for Postgraduates

Prominent scholars, such as Henry Lewis, D. Ellis Evans and Hywel Teifi Edwards, have been professors at the Department of Welsh, and Saunders Lewis was a lecturer here before being dismissed for his part in the 'Fire in Llŷn' protest. The results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) placed Welsh at Swansea first among the Welsh institutions which submitted their work to the Celtic Studies sub-panel, and in second place in the UK. The research areas by our staff are diverse and include, modern literature, critical theory, editing modern and early modern text.
