Studying through the medium of Welsh

Welsh-medium opportunities at the College of Arts and Humanities

These pages can help you make decisions about studying through the medium of Welsh.  We offer single and joint honours entirely through the medium of Welsh. It’s also possible for you to study a part of your degree through the medium of Welsh by choosing some Welsh-medium modules and other English-medium modules so that you can study bilingually. Other learning opportunities include tutoring and assessment through the medium of Welsh.

You have a right to present coursework and sit exams through the medium of Welsh, even if you have chosen to complete courses through the medium of English. By continuing to study your course completely or partly through the medium of Welsh, you will develop your skills in two languages - Welsh and English - which will open doors for you when you leave the university.

Many of the College of Arts and Humanities staff and students are Welsh speakers. Academi Hywel Teifi, that promotes Welsh-medium teaching and research across the subjects offered by the University, is located within the College of Arts and Humanities.
