Chris Williams is currently co-directing an international research project comparing the coalfields of South Wales and Japan. Chris Williams is currently co-ordinating a research initiative focusing on industrialization and de-industrialization in comparative perspective. In November 2009 a symposium, supported by the Economic History Society, was staged at Swansea University under the title ‘Temporal and spatial synchronicities: interrogating the processes of heavy industrialization and de-industrialization’.
