Swansea University Home - Research Centres

The Research Institute for Arts and Humanities (RIAH) supports two major Research Centres. The role of the Research Centres is to develop areas of research strength, to develop bids for external grant funding, to maximise postgraduate enrolments and to develop external contacts and partnerships.

  • The Callaghan Centre for the Study of Conflict, Power, Empire was established in 2002, and relaunched in 2009 with a broadened remit. It is one of two flagship Research Centres of the College of Arts and Humanities.

  • The Richard Burton Centre for the Study of Wales brings together expertise and resources in matters Welsh located across the College of Arts and Humanities, encouraging cutting-edge research of international quality and maximizing synergies across disciplines.
