'Employers are very interested in my degree '

"I had an amazing time at Swansea Uni. I studied English and American Studies at Swansea. I completed a four year degree with my third year spent at UMass Amherst. I am now employed by Rackspace. Which is  an IT company and is currently the worlds leader in hosting. I work in the sales department. I actually found the role through a graduate recruitment company so the role is officially a grad role. I qualify incoming leads and then pass them onto our sales specialists who 'close' the deal. It is a varied role and I work on the phones and the internet finding leads and qulaifying incoming leads. I have found the course I studied to be very helpful when looking for work. Employers are very interested in my degree and of course of the fact that I spent a year studying in the States"

“I am employed as a Research Consultant for Russell Reynolds Associates, one of the top four executive search firms globally. Russell Reynolds only hire graduates into the research function and thus without my degree I would not have been accepted onto the scheme. The fact that I did well in my degree also helped a great deal as they like to hire people with drive, which is difficult to prove when you are starting out. Also, the fact that I spent a year studying in the US helps a great deal in my day to day working life."

"My year at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign changed me as a person, and made me so much more confident and independent. The school was fantastic; 40,000 students, so many classes to choose from and plenty of great facilities all in one big, beautiful campus. I even took a class in ice skating! The larger workload, although stressful at times, taught me how to handle my assignments more efficiently and trained me to work harder for my third and final year at Swansea. I worked with a research assistant with a notable professor, and gained valuable research experience and skills. Being in the US was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget, and definitely was been the best year of my life. I would definitely recommend doing a year abroad to anyone, it will be the best decision you ever make. I now work as an International Development Officer at Swansea University!"
