Why did you decide to study at Swansea University?
I actually came to Swansea through Clearing. I saw pictures of Swansea and thought WOW! When I visited, the beach was beautiful, the weather glorious and some of the nicest, most approachable lecturers I had ever met.
What did you enjoy most about your course at Swansea?
I adored my course. The passion the lecturers had for their chosen field was admirable. They made it impossible not to enjoy lectures! The setting of the University is second to none, it is so beautiful there I felt proud to show it off to my friends and family!
What are you doing now career-wise?
I worked in Marketing for nine years and took the leap to set up my own Marketing Agency! I now run a successful agency working with some of the biggest clients in the world including The O2, Somerset House, Wembley and the Liberty Stadium.
How has Swansea University and your course helped you with your chosen career path?
I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do when I left University, I always felt a bit lost. All my friends knew what they wanted to do and I didn’t. I chatted with lecturers and they told me to do something I loved. I knew that I loved being creative and using my imagination so I did!
What are the most challenging parts of your job?
Working for myself, there is no-one to help me if times get hard!

Working for myself!! I feel I have achieved so much, and I did that by myself! It was such a risk, but a risk worth taking. It is the best thing I have ever done.
What was the best careers advice you were given?
From my Dad, “The day you start resenting going into work is the day you need to look for something else.” I followed his advice and never regretted it! He however, worked for Heineken for 30 years and never missed a single day!
What advice do you have for current students and new graduates?
Do something you love. If you can work doing your hobby it will never feel like work.
If you don’t know what you want to do, don’t worry, there is plenty of time for you to figure that out. Just do something fun!
What are your plans for the future?
I want to expand my business, take on bigger and better clients and start to help younger people make their way in Marketing. If I can help graduates make steps towards their dream careers then I will be happy.
