Your room
Our residences and rooms are furnished and equipped to meet your needs and support your student experience.
- Your Residence Fees include all utilities.
- In the case of part-catered residents, £24.50 per week of your residence fees is allocated to a flexible dining card.
- Contents insurance, WIFI and a telephone (connected to university network) are all included (see below for details).
Keeping in Touch
- Wireless internet is provided in your room (in all residences)
- Every room has a telephone with free calls throughout the university network, including all residences.
The above are not applicable to SAS off campus Flats & houses.
Insurance
- You are covered by a personal belongings insurance, provided by Endsleigh.
You will need a TV Licence
- You need to buy a TV Licence to watch TV in your room on all devices including laptops and mobile phones.
- A colour TV licence costs £145.50 and can be obtained from the TV Licensing website.
- You can claim back for the summer months after you move out - check their website for details
Blackboard
All the information you will need as a resident in our student accommodation is provided in Blackboard.
What is Blackboard?
Swansea University uses an intranet system and teaching tool called Blackboard (University login required) to provide current students with the information and resources they need whilst living and studying at the university.
What information is included in Blackboard?
Accommodation information provided in Blackboard is split into four main areas:
- Your Tenancy: explaining all the paperwork you've received and your tenancy conditions
- Your Room: day to day information about living in residence
- Help and Support: accessing support services
- Health and Safety

Advice and support
There are a range of support services in place to help you settle into student life and support you throughout your time at university. If you have a specific issue you'd like to discuss with a member of staff, Blackboard can point you in the right direction and tell you where you would need to go to speak to someone and access the range of support we offer to all our students.
