A new Community Liaison Officer (CLO) has been appointed to work with students studying and living in Swansea and local residents and communities in the city.
Robin Benson has been appointed to the CLO post, which is funded in partnership between Swansea University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David Swansea, Gower College Swansea, South Wales Police and the City and County of Swansea Council.
Robin will act as a liaison point for students and residents with queries, concerns or complaints, and will work to promote all the benefits which a vibrant student population brings to local communities and economies.
Robin said: “My focus is to promote positive relationships between students and local communities, and also act as a link between partners to help support the better integration of students as active citizens in Swansea.”
Robin is the primary contact for residents who wish to raise any issues relating to students from Swansea University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David Swansea or Gower College, who are living in the local community.
Robin is also set to launch a termly Community Newsletter soon, in a bid to bring student and local communities together by improving communication between them and help encourage more students to participate in their local neighbourhoods.
