Ty Beck House or Beck as it is also known, is located in the Uplands area, less than a mile from the University. Beck provides quiet accommodation for mature students and students with families and also provides 47 and 51 week accommodation. The Uplands area has a good range of shops, banks, pubs and eating-places. Both primary and secondary schools are within walking distance of Beck. Regular buses run from Uplands to the city centre and the Gower peninsula.

The building is a mixture of styles with 6 large Victorian town houses forming the front façade. These houses have been converted to provide good quality family accommodation. The single students are housed in separate buildings. The single rooms are grouped into flats, with 6-11 students sharing kitchen-diners, which are equipped with cookers, refrigerators, freezers and microwaves. Each flat has its own laundry facilities. Students provide their own bedding, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is ample car parking.
