Accommodation after the First Year - For students looking for a house or flat to rent then come into Swansea Accommodation Services for information and list of properties

For students not wishing to live on Campus or at the Student village, the most popular choice for students after their first year is to move into a house in Uplands or Brynmill.  The university manages a number of properties in these areas on behalf of Landlords enabling students to live independently in the private sector with the comfort of dealing with the university for any issues that may arise.  These properties are normally let on a 47 week contract for undergraduate and exchange students and 51 week contracts for Postgraduate students.  Contracts start at the beginning of August and includes Christmas and Easter vacations and run through until the end of June. 

The properties consist of study-bedrooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Most of the properties are equipped with, Sitting rooms, Washing Machines, Microwaves.

  • Administers your tenancy agreement where each student has their own contract
  • Manages your rent.
  • Handles any maintenance as required (inc. out of hours emergency repairs)
  • Provides personal belongings insurance up to £3000
  • Does not take a damage deposit

There are over 90 houses available providing over 400 rooms in the popular student areas of Brynmill and Uplands in properties ranging between two and ten bedrooms

  • Properties are fully furnished: consisting of study bedrooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities and most have a sitting room/lounge area
  • Let on a 47 week basis: August to end of June
  • Fitted with fully equipped kitchen including washing machine and microwave (many also include tumble dryer)
  • Standard rooms range between £55.00 - £67.00 per week

If you do not wish to rent a property through the University and go to a private letting agent, please remember we are here to offer general advice to assist you with house-hunting.  We are aware that as students you are inexperienced renters and we will review tenancies, check contracts and are on hand to answer any queries you may have regarding the private sector.
