Most of the University's Self-Catering Accommodation is at Hendrefoelan Student Village also known as the Student Village or just HSV.  While most  residents are in their first year at Swansea, the number of continuing students who also live there makes for a lively and varied social scene.  A number of activities take place at Idols e.g. video evenings, quizzes and live music.

• Hendrefoelan consists of the Student Village and the Woodside Flats. Hendrefoelan is our largest residence site, where 1644 students live in self-catering accommodation at the Student Village.

There is a frequent Unibus  service  between Hendrefoelan and the campus during term-time. Local shops, banks, pubs and takeaways are within walking distance at Killay and Sketty and buses also run to the city centre and the Gower peninsula.  Facilities at Hendrefoelan include a Spar shop, launderette, bar (Idols), tennis court and fast-food outlet.  Other shops, pubs and a Post Office are about 10 minutes' walk away.
Students provide their own bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, and are responsible for all cleaning within the house/flat.  Fuel costs are included within the rent.

The Hendrefoelan estate is 2½ miles from the campus, just off the main Swansea to Gower road, set amongst mature woodland with open grassy areas and consists of 1644 single rooms, Properties consist of self contained flats for 4 or 6 & 7 and Houses for 8, 9 or 10.

ON SITE AT THE VILLAGE

The Superintendent's Office is in House 40, next to the shop. Keys are collected and repairs reported here.  The Welfare Wardens are housed in house 39

All rooms at Hendrefoelan have telephones connected to the ntl student system and providing free calls on the site and to the campus and WiFi connection. There is no additional charge for residents to use this system.   Students will require a PC that is wireless enabled to access the service and must register their computer with Library and Information services.
