VILLAGE

Most of the University's self-catering accommodation is at Hendrefoelan Student Village also known as the Student Village or just HSV. Hendrefoelan is 2½ miles from the campus, just off the main Swansea to Gower road, set amongst mature woodland with open grassy areas and consists of 1644 single rooms.  The majority of  first year students are housed at the Student Village alongside a small number of continuing students.  As our largest site, residents will experience a lively and varied social scene.  A number of activities take place at the on site Union run bar Woody's e.g. video evenings, quizzes and live music.  There is an area of the site set aside as a designated quiet area for those students who prefer a quieter lifestyle.

  • Hendrefoelan consists of the Student Village and the Woodside Flats. Hendrefoelan is our largest residence site, where 1644 students live in self-catering accommodation.
  • Students from each house or flat share bathroom and kitchen facilities. 
  • Kitchens are equipped with cookers, microwaves, refrigerators and freezers and have plenty of storage space.

There is a frequent Unibus  service between Hendrefoelan and the campus during term-time. Local shops, banks, pubs and takeaways are within walking distance at Killay and Sketty and buses also run to the city centre and the Gower peninsula.  Facilities at Hendrefoelan include a Spar shop, launderette, bar (Woody's), tennis court and the fast-food outlet Idol's. Other shops, pubs and a Post Office are about 10 minutes' walk away.
Students provide their own bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, and are responsible for cleaning within the house/flat.  Fuel costs are included within the rent.  For more pictures of our residences please click here.

Properties consist of self contained flats for 4, 6 or 7 students and houses for 8, 9 or 10 students.

ON SITE AT THE VILLAGE

Hendrefoilan

The Residence Reception is in House 40, next to the shop. During term time, keys are collected and repairs reported here.  The Welfare Wardens live in house 39.

All rooms at Hendrefoelan have WiFi connection and telephones connected to the student network providing free calls on the site and to the campus.  There is no additional charge for residents to use the WiFi system.   Students will require a PC that is wireless enabled to access the service and must register their computer with Library and Information services.
