2. Entry Conditions

This section should be read in conjunction with the University’s Guide to Research Student Admissions.


A visiting/exchange research student must be registered as a student on a research degree programme at a UK university or another university approved by Collaborative Provision and Senate.


All visiting/exchange research students whose native language is not English must provide evidence of competence in English Language sufficient for research, which comply with Swansea University and UKVI regulations.


The decision as to whether an applicant should be admitted as a visiting/exchange research student shall rest with the relevant Head of College or nominee. Decisions should be based on the following factors:

  1. whether the College is satisfied that the applicant is of the required academic standard to undertake research at the University;
  2. whether there is an adequately qualified member of staff to act as advisor in accordance with paragraph 3;
  3. whether there are appropriate resources and facilities in place to support the visiting/exchange research student.


All visiting/exchange research students are required to comply with the University’s Guide to Research Student Admissions.
