The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol plays an important part in planning, maintaining and developing Welsh medium education and scholarship. The Coleg works in partnership with universities in Wales and has a branch in every Welsh university that is a member.
Swansea University's branch
Swansea University works in partnership with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and the University's branch is situated within Academi Hywel Teifi. As a member of the Coleg, you are also a member of the institution's branch. The branch plays a key role in the organisation of the College and the Welsh medium organisation within Swansea University by uniting staff members to discuss and consider institutional as well as national Welsh medium matters.
Swansea Universty's branch is situatied in room 244 in the Keir Hardie building and offers information on the opportunities and activities available within the University.
Welsh Language Skills Certificate
The Certificate has been developed in order to enable students that are studying in Wales to obtain a qualification that shows evidence of their language skills and their ability to work through the medium of Welsh. As a member of the Coleg it's possible to gain the qualification and by applying for jobs you will have:
- evidence (that is recognised within the higher education sector as well as by employers) of the level of Welsh language skills
- a way to show an ability to communicate professionally and confidently through the medium of Welsh in a variety of situations

The Coleg Cymraeg's Learning Space
Organisations were asked to express an interest in hosting a dedicated Learning Space for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. A grant of £25,000 was provided to fund the equipment. The multipurpose teaching room is situated in the CDS building (behind Taliesin) on campus. This will be incredibly useful for students as it will allow them to be involved in seminars and lectures that are held in different institutions. The room was officially launched by Lowri Morgan who is an Honorary Fellow of the University in December 2012. This new learning space will be a significant boost for the Welsh language provision and will be an invaluable investment for the future.
